Elbert and Elfreda Archer Scholarship

Purpose

The Elbert and Elfreda Archer Scholarship provides funding opportunities for eligible, low-income students in the Caribbean to achieve any of the following goals: (a) pursue secondary or college/university education, and/or (b) register to take the following examinations; the Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC), Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE), and/or Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) examinations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • be no older than 24 years old by October 31st of each scholarship year.
  • demonstrate a need for financial assistance via parents’, guardians, or personal income.
  • reside in the Caribbean territory.
  • must have at least a cumulative “B+” average (86%)  at the time of the application.

Consideration will be given to academic achievement and financial need.

Selection Process

The Scholarship Selection Committee will consider these criteria when making their decision:

  • Academic achievement
  • Expressed financial need
  • Statement of educational goals and career objectives
  • The information contained by reference providers.
Guidelines

Scholarships are awarded biennially (every two years).  Applicants are required to complete all sections of the scholarship application.  Applicants are strongly encouraged to ensure that their applications are well-written and free of grammatical errors.  Incomplete applications will not be considered for this scholarship award.

Deadline to Apply

To be guaranteed consideration for the Elbert & Elfreda Archer Scholarship selection process, students must submit all required application materials by the April 1, 2024 deadline. NO LATE APPLICATIONS will be accepted. The Scholarship Selection Committee will use the date and time of the email/online submission to determine if the application deadline was adhered to.

Varies based on the availability of funds

Notification

Applicants will be notified of their status by June 8, 2024.
